Hi! My name is Maggie and I’ll be marrying my fiance, Mike at the Garvey Family Wedding Barn on September 18, 2021. We’re going to keep the wedding light, casual, and minimalist. We’re so glad Maggie connected with us! Although we didn’t have the opportunity to meet with her and Mike in person until their wedding day we learned more about their love story along the way, and a few fun facts about who they are as individuals…

How did you two meet?
We met in college in 2013 and began seeing each other a lot around campus. Dates started at the library in the fall of 2015. That eventually led to a long distance relationship while I finished a second bachelor’s degree and doctorate before moving to Pittsburgh to be with Mike. Between the two of us we’ve lived in Ohio, Indiana, Tennessee, Michigan, and Pennsylvania over the last 5 years.

How did Mike propose and when did you get engaged?
Mike proposed early November 2019 in my apartment living room because he couldn’t wait for the planned walk he wanted to take with me that day. His original idea was to propose in Pennsylvania at his family hunting farm over Thanksgiving but I was still living in Michigan and wasn’t sure if I would make it to Pittsburgh that holiday.

Can you share any fun/quirky facts about yourselves individually or as a couple?
I’m basically an 80 year old woman in a 28 year old body. Most of my family and close friends call me Marge because of it. I love to knit and read. Mike is a very good fly fisherman and ties his own flies. He’s also into bow and rifle hunting. We love taking our dogs on walks, hiking, archery, going to the lake, grilling, snowboarding and skiing.

Are you going on a honeymoon? When and where?
We are currently planning to go skiing in Denver sometime in March 2022.
